The Strange
Time Travel  The Strange

Science has been working on time travel since Einstein introduced his theory of relativity.
Einstein said that time changes as an object approaches the speed of light.  Nicola Tesla and other early scientists pursued magnetic waves and fields as means of accomplishing travel through time.  Experiments with invisibility in the forties, such as the Philadelphia experiment, had strange time travel side effects or so it was claimed.  These experiments used magnetic waves and/or magnetic fields.  It has been proposed that if a certain type of magnetic field is produced so that the waves in emanating from and within the field exceed the speed of light,  the time continuum will be altered, i.e. slowed or reversed so that an object within the field can travel backwards through time.

Wilbert Brockhouse Smith developed the caduceus coil coil sometime during the 1950's
prior to his death in 1961.  Dr. Smith was involved in the top-secret program "Project Magnet". This project,  was a government sponsored program to produce an aircraft which flew by means of  anti gravity engines.  It was during this period of time when he developed the caduceus coil.  The coil was said to produce electromagnetic waves which travel parallel to the coil windings.  The waves were also said to exceed the speed of light.  Smith claimed that timepieces, which were inside the caduceus coil's region of greatest magnetic field flux density, measured time at a different rate and direction of time flow than  timepieces which were outside of the coil's magnetic field.

The U.S. government was involved in a project called the Temporal Transmission Research Project.  They would place an object inside a hollow aluminum tube and then subject the tube to a high frequency electromagnetic field that travels faster than light.  The tube (and its contents) were supposed to be able to travel into the past.  It was said that a government scientist had volunteered to go back to the year 1918, remain for 25 minutes of subjective time, then return.   He went, but never returned.  The project members then decided to look over old publications (from 1918) looking for clues as to what happened. After about two months of searching,  they found an old microfiche copy of a  police journal which had a very strange article in it.  In the article, it shows what appears to be (in a picture) a metal tube about two feet long and containing the crushed remains of a man. Also, in the picture, is what looks like a cellular phone (lying on the ground) about one to two feet away.

In the early nineties a group of quantum physicists who were working seriously with time travel proposed that if an object sits within a "time balloon" which is a round sphere who's walls are capable of contracting istantainiously to a much smaller size, that the object in the center will be transported backwards through time.  This is because of a certain law of quantum physics dealing with the space relationship with time rather than the speed relationship.  Although speed would be a major factor also, because the walls of the time balloon would have contract or expand at or near the speed of light.

Magnetics seems to be a more feasible approach to the task of traveling through time.  Building a time balloon such as the one described above, is impossible with today's technology.
