I lived in Bowie ,MD for 19 years. i just recently moved to PA
though.. I
lived on Zircon Drive... only a few blocks from Fletchertown
Road, where
goatman was said to reside.(also around lanhamsevern road going
through old
bowie) I attended school at HighBridge Elementary School and
later Bowie
High School. I only heard about the goatman a few times when my
friends
where trying to out scare each other . I believe that there is
the
possiblity that he exists, but have never seen him myself. The
most
information that i've ever heard about the goat man i actually
saw on TV
after i moved to PA.. it was some sort of special on urban
legends and they
talked about the goatman of Prince Georges County.
I've heard a few different things about the goat man... ranging
from an
escaped madman to a halfman/halfgoat that likes to kill animals
and
terrorize people in general. I'm not sure exactly what to
believe about
him, but I think that there's always a possiblity that
something strange
is always out there.. A.H.

Hi, Just read your goatman page.. I live in Ft
Worth and we have long
had a legend here of a goatman of Greer Island which is Lake
Worth just
a few miles from where I live. I can remember the
stories from the 70's
when I was a teenager but I clumped the story in with our
other urban
legends like "dogman of Euless who lived in a house but with a
pack of
dogs and used to jump on car hoods and chase cars"
However recently the
Star Telegram has written an article about the sightings of
Goatman of
Greer Island and sited the law enforcement officials who have
been out
there and also reported seeing something that un-nerved them.
Greer
Island is not far from the Old Carswell Airforce base where
the Aliens
from the Rosewell spaceship crash aledgely were taken along
with some of
the crash debri...At least the debri part is documented.
There are many
theories just as your Maryland Goatman. Football players
from Brewer
High school went out there at times to show their braverly and
reportedly came back very shaken from their experience.
Have you any
info on this Goatman? My boys are very interested and I
have been
searching the web looking...have found a few references but
mostly dead
links...

I've never heard of a "goatman." Or at least not until March
4,2ooo. I was
on the computer playing games when my friend called. She said to
turn on the
TV and change the channel to 40, which just happened to be my
favorite
channel: animal planet. There was this show on called animal-x.
It was about animals
or unexplained happenings. It was talking about the goatman. At
first I
didn't believe it, it just didn't seem to be real. Then I heard
it was in
Maryland somewhere. The show said it would feed on dogs and
sometimes
livestock. It said that the goatman had been seen somewhere on
route 197
north and 197 south. I'm not exactly sure if that's correct but
I'm pretty
sure. Well, today "March 5,2000 " My friend called and told me
she had been
on-line looking for some more info. on the goatman. She came to
your website.
She gave me the address, and here I am type to you telling you
every thin I
know. I just want to say that if the goatman is out there, there
could also
be something else know as the blood monkey. It is known to suck
the brains
out of it's victims. I'm not so sure if it's true because I herd
it from a
different friend, but it could be out there. Beware!

I live on Prince George's County and grew up in the Glenn Dale
area-the
Goatman was alleged to have lived in the area of Fletchertown Rd
in Old
Bowie/(Springfield) and Lottsford Vista area. The stories
that we were told
in the 70's and 80's are consistent with the ones above.
The Goatman would
kill families/lovers children who broke down on the road or who
were getting
frisky on Fletchertoen Rd. It was said that he often out their
heads under
the seats of the vehicles. It was also rumored that three knocks
of the axe
on a tree would be the warning that he was near. John Hayden of
Old Bowie
claims to have seen the Goatman in 71'-72' and the
killing/beheading of a dog
"Ginger" there was said to have been the work of the Goatman.
John is still
alive and still stands by his story.
Sadly the Fletchertown Rd area has been developed and it appears
the Goatman
has left--the Lottsford Vista area is being built up and "Cry
Baby" bridge
where you could hear the baby cry/see the Goatman if you
parked-will soon be
gone.............It is rumored that the Goatman is now in the
old Glenn Dale

This goatman thing is really getting around. i'm a
thirteen-year-old from portland, or. Me and some buddies
from my science class heard about this when we saw one of those
videos on how to give a speach. anyway, they showed this
thing with a kid talking about the paranormal. he was
talking bout ufo's, bigfoot, the lock ness monster and u guessed
it-the goatman so here i
am, bored on a saturday night looking at a page baout the
goatman.

I grew up in La Porte, Texas. It lies on the coast of the Gulf
of
Mexico. There are dozens of industrial plants and refineries
that are
located all over the town. Most of these plants sit along miles
of
deserted streches of road. One of the very first urban legends I
heard
growing up was of a horrifying creature that lived in the acres
of land
that lay between the refinery roads. Supposedly, this creature
was
half-man-half-goat, or a man that believed he was a rabid goat,
or a
homeless guy that wore wild goat carcasses or something. I've
never
heard of the goatman killing anyone, but one time I did find a
big,
mutilated golden retriever along one of these roads, if that
means
anything. Anyway, I have heard some half-way credible stories
about
encounters with this goatman ( from actual people without
drinking
problems! ) I was just wondering if anyone else had any
information on a
legend like this one in the coastal region of Texas. I have
wondered
since I was in 5th grade where this fable originated from and
thought it

Tales of a New Zealand Goatman

To the Goatman People, I have heard stories about a Goatman ever
since I
was little, I live in New Zealand and am doing a film for school
about
him. The stories here aren't that sinister and are mainly about
families
picking up a hicth-hiker in a black trench coat and eventually
finding
out that it was the Goatman and thats what I'm making the film
about.
But lately, ever since I drew up the script and story boards
I've been
hearing a strange bleating sound and I swear I've seen goat
footprints
outside my room. The other night I caught a glimpse of someone
in the
back yard but did not get a good look as the person(?) took off
in a
hurry, perhaps he was our Goatman?

I first heard this story in 1986. A friend of mine, on his way
home from
band practice saw something very unexplainable. Wolfe and

ky are located in the remote
section of eastern ky. whle traveling home on the small road#

Goatman appears beside his car and runs beside his car at an
incredible
speed in excess of 50 MPH,not knowing what to do he trys to run
it
over.The thing dissapeard off the side of the road ,into the
woods.In
telling my friends, and i,the next day,he hardly had believed
what he
had seen.. We all thought he was drunk,but,everyone knew
better.Also one
thing i have read on other sightings,is the dead dog
details.Almost all
the dogs in this area for miles,were found dead on the small
county
road.
My second encounter ,about the goatman, comes from my wife.One
day we
were discussing the Red River Gorge area. < this is an area
in eastern
ky,where we grew up>.She told me about a night, in the
gorge.While
driving down a forest service road, something jumped across the
road in
front of her and her passengers.This thing continued to run down
the
road beside her car, the faster she went,the faster it went. She
said
she stopped her car, and it stopped also,turned around and gazed
at them
..The thing was in front of her car about twenty yards.She was
in a state
of panic ,by now.Not knowing what to do,she floored the car, and
tried
to run it over .Of course she wasnt succsessful.The thing jumped
off the
road with incredible speed and agility.After all this had taken
place,the boys in the car hurry back home to tell their
parents.When
they tell; one of the boys fathers, he decides they should all
take
their dogs and go hunt it .When they make it back to the area,
where
they spotted it, they turn loose the dogs on it .The dogs take
off in a
frenzy, only never to be seen again.Needless to say, everyone
went home
scared silly.My wife told me she never spoke of the goatman to
anyone,,again but, she never travelled in the gorge area again.
I am a sain person,and most normal people wouldnt believe this
story,
and I dont blame them,but let me fill you in on a few facts.My
wife had
never met my friend ,who told me of the goatman, nor had I ever
mentioned it anytime in any conversation .Whats bizarre about
this
story,is when looking on the topographical map, of the area
mentioned,it
is only five miles from one area to the other . also I will add
this. I
asked my wife what the date was, that the sighting occured .She
said
7-10-86. I asked my friend what day his sighting occured.He said
7-11-86
In closing, My oppinion is, this thing is either an experiment
gone bad,
turned loose by the government,some weird mutation or an
abomination you
choose.

Once me and my friend Ben were trail ridding in some woods. We
then saw this huge man figure with white hair and horns running
in the woods. We got off to try to find it. But we found no
trace.

Hello, my name is Mark Ritter. I'm 28, live in WV, but lived in
PG CO.
Md.for 20 years. There is a lot of BS out there about the
Goatman. The
Gaoatman is real and may be dangerous.It is not something that a
novice
tracker should mess with. Mutilations are true but happen
as a result
of self defense. I have true personal exeriences of the Goatman.
As I
said there is alot of BS out there regarding this matter. I will
not go
into too many details because I don't want to offend others or
have
others simply claim personal experiences based on what
information they
gather from me. I will say there is only one true goatman
legend, and
that is the one of the Bowie- Largo area. I know the area well
and know
the facts. It is very real and potentially deadly. I lived in
the heart
of Goatman- country and have real experiences that will
hopefully
discourage any drunken teenage witch hunts. I have been
within just a
few feet of this creature . The fact is, If it is provoked, it
can be
dangerous. LEAVE IT ALONE FOR GODSAKE ! Contrary to what you've
heard,
it fears dogs. So, if you are gonna' take a stroll at night,
take the
dog with you. I spent a long time persuing this
creature and know
alot about it. Anyone interested in the truth about the Goatman
should
